Scott Richards

Richards’ work is most easily understood as “national security advisory”, reflective of experience and expertise in the 7 pillars: physical, energy, cyber, economic, infrastructure, environment and socio-political. His reports and briefings have been used by law enforcement in Canada and the U.S. on topics ranging from terrorism, human rights violations, narcotics (fentanyl), wildlife trafficking, and human trafficking.

Richards has worked in crisis management since 2008, focused on arbitrary detentions, kidnap and ransom (Africa, Mexico), child abduction recovery, and investigation for complex international frauds involving organized crime.

Richards has served as an advisor to Western governments on Afghanistan, as well as on technology, and is a partner at “Hemmerling Pollock Richards”, an economic activation firm with an impressive performance record. Richards has advised the U.S. on blockchain and other emerging technologies working on behalf of Congressman Pete Sessions’ Office to establish the "Crypto-Technical Working Group"

Started his career in political affairs in 1998, providing advisory and authoring presentations for a Senior Australian political figure and the Australian Senate. In 2000, building on his Internet experience, he migrated to ‘advertising and branding’ to support blue-chip companies in bringing their brand and user experience online.

In 2006, he moved to Dubai, where he resumed work in international political relations and became involved in security when he began working with DTI - a firm founded by Retired Tier One Special Operations Forces, with whom he continues to work closely.

In 2014, Richards formed the Joint Task Force for Anti and Counter Corruption and began working with the Ministry of Finance (“MoF”) in Afghanistan as a special advisor on anti-corruption, where he represented the MoF at the “Oversight Coordination Body” meetings.

In 2019, he joined Hemmerling Pollock Richards (“HPR”), a specialist economic advisory, founded by Mal Hemmerling, former CEO of the Australian Grand Prix and former CEO of the Sydney Olympics, and the accomplished project manager, James Pollock.

2021, he liaised heavily with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan during August and September and advised UK Minister Siobhan Ballie who led Boris Johnson’s Afghan Task Force. His analysis of terrorism threats in Afghanistan, from Al Qaeda to ISIS, has been briefed to the U.S. Special Operations Command and other stakeholders. Richards briefs African Governments on threats from ISIS, Al Shabab and others on the continent.
